How to choose water filters for the water purifiers?
There are main 8 types popular water filters in the market, different types water filters used in different water purifiers, depending on the purpose of water filtering.
1) Activated carbon water filter
There are two types of activated carbon filter products: compressed activated carbon filter and bulk activated carbon filter.
The compressed activated carbon filter uses high adsorption value coal-based activated carbon and coconut shell activated carbon as the filter material, and is sintered and compressed with a food-grade binder. The inside and outside of the compressed activated carbon water filter are respectively wrapped with a layer of non-woven fabric with filtering effect to ensure that the carbon element itself will not drop carbon powder. Soft nitrile rubber gaskets are installed at both ends of the carbon element to make the carbon element fit into the filter cartridge Has good sealing.
Bulk-type activated carbon filter packs the required activated carbon particles into a special plastic shell, welds the end caps on both ends of the shell with welding equipment, and puts non-woven fabric filters for filtering at both ends of the shell , to ensure that the carbon core will not drop carbon powder and black water when in use. According to the needs of customers, the shell end cover can be made into different types of connection ports. Interface methods are: flat pressure type, pipeline type.
2) PP water filter
PP water filter is also called PP melt-blown water filter. The melt-blown water filter is made of polypropylene superfine fiber hot-melt entanglement. The fibers randomly form a three-dimensional microporous structure in space. The pore size is distributed in a gradient along the filtrate flow direction. , fine and fine filtration in one body, can intercept impurities of different particle sizes. The precision range of the water filter is 0.5-100μm, and its flux is more than 1.5 times that of the peak room water filter of the same precision. It can be equipped with different types of end cap joints to meet the needs of various engineering installations.
3) Ceramic water filter
Ceramic water filter is a new type of environmental protection water filter, which is made of diatomite mud as raw material and prepared by special technical molding method. Its average pore size is only 0.1μm, which is the water filter with the highest filtration precision.
The purpose of the ceramic water filter is to remove the liquid medicine, plating solution, and solid particles in the tap water, and the carbon water filter to remove the organic impurities in the liquid. When filtering, the solution is driven by the pump and flows through the filter cartridge and the water filter, the particles are separated in the water filter, and the filtered solution returns to the electroplating tank or solution tank through the core tube. It is true that filter paper can also filter out particles, but its function is different from that of the water filter. The filter paper relies on the surface to remove particles, while the filter residue of the water filter is hidden between the yarns, and its surface area is much larger than that of filter paper.
4) Resin water filter
Resin is a porous, insoluble exchange material. The resin water filter in the water softener is filled with millions of tiny resin balls (beads), all of which contain many negative charge exchange sites that absorb positive ions. When the resin is in its nascent state, these charge exchange sites are occupied by positively charged sodium ions. As the calcium and magnesium pass through the resin reservoir, they contact the resin beads, displacing the sodium ions from the exchange sites. The resin preferentially binds more strongly charged cations, with calcium and magnesium ions being more strongly charged than sodium ions. The displacing sodium cations then travel down through the resin' bed and out of the water softener so that the water softener sends out "soft" water. Eventually, all resin exchange sites are filled with calcium and magnesium and can no longer do their job.
It is commonly used as a water softener water filter, which can pass through a resin regeneration agent (soft water salt) after filtration. Commonly used are time regeneration and flow regeneration; the most advanced in the world is the German water softener, which adopts time/flow dual-program control technology to effectively reduce water consumption and resin regeneration agent consumption, and is environmentally friendly and energy-saving.
5) Titanium rod water filter
The titanium rod water filter has excellent properties such as corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, high strength, easy to ensure filtration accuracy, and easy regeneration; the titanium water filter is formed by forming titanium powder and sintered at high temperature, so the surface particles are not easy to fall off; the operating temperature in the air Up to 500~600°C; suitable for filtration of various corrosive media, such as: hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, hydroxide, seawater, aqua regia, and chloride solutions such as iron, copper, and sodium.
Increasing the degree of activation of water is more conducive to the absorption of water by the human body, protects human health, and promotes human metabolism. It is this material that makes the KDF water filter. This water filter is the best configuration for water purifiers.
6) Nanofiltration membrane
Nanofiltration membrane is a functional semi-permeable membrane that allows solvent molecules or some low-molecular-weight solutes or low-priced ions to pass through. It is a special and promising type of separation membrane. It is named for the size of the intercepted substance is about nanometers. The molecular weight of the intercepted organic matter is about 150-500, and the ability to intercept soluble salts is 2- Between 98%, the desalination of monovalent anion salt solution is lower than that of hypervalent anion salt solution. It is used to remove organic matter and color of surface water, remove hardness of ground water, partially remove soluble salt, concentrate fruit juice and separate useful substances in medicine, etc.
7) Hollow fiber ultrafiltration membrane
Hollow fiber ultrafiltration membrane is a kind of ultrafiltration membrane. It is the most mature and advanced technology in ultrafiltration technology. The outer diameter of the hollow fiber: 0.5-2.0mm, the inner diameter: 0.3-1.4mm, the hollow fiber tube wall is covered with micropores, the pore diameter is expressed by the molecular weight that can intercept substances, and the molecular weight interception can reach several thousand to hundreds of thousands. Raw water flows under pressure outside or inside the hollow fiber, forming an external pressure type and an internal pressure type respectively. Ultrafiltration is a dynamic filtration process, and the intercepted substances can be removed along with the concentration, without clogging the membrane surface, and can be operated continuously for a long time. Ultrafiltration membrane is one of the earliest polymer separation membranes developed.
8) RO reverse osmosis membrane
RO reverse osmosis membrane, RO is the abbreviation of Reverse Osmosis membrane in English, Chinese means: reverse osmosis (reverse osmosis), the general way of water flow is from low concentration to high concentration, once the water is pressurized, it will flow from high concentration to low concentration , which is the so-called reverse osmosis principle: Since the pore size of the RO membrane is five millionths of a hair (0.0001 microns), it is generally invisible to the naked eye, and bacteria and viruses are 5,000 times larger than it. Therefore, only water molecules and some Mineral ions that are beneficial to the human body can pass through, and other impurities and heavy metals are discharged from the waste water pipe. This method is used in all seawater desalination processes and astronaut waste water recycling. Therefore, the RO membrane is also called a high-tech artificial kidney outside the body.
The type of membrane also determines the price, service life and filtration accuracy.
Generally, the water filters used in household water purifiers are: RO reverse osmosis membrane, ultrafiltration membrane, PP cotton water filter, activated carbon water filter, etc. Among them, the replacement time of PP cotton water filter and activated carbon water filter for fine filtration is about 3 to 6 months; while RO reverse osmosis membrane and ultrafiltration membrane, which play the core role, can generally be used for 2 to 3 years.
In addition, the water quality of the water purifier and the frequency of use of the water purifier will affect the life of the water filter.
In short, different filtration processes and water filters of water purification technology have different functional characteristics and service life. The water filter of water purifier (water purifier) is a consumable and has a certain service life. The actual service life also depends on the local water quality and usage. Frequent flushing will help prolong the service life of the water filter of the water purifier.
